'Bailiffs'

Bailiffs for the purpose of debt collection fall into three categories.

County Court Bailiffs: These men and women are connected directly to the County Court for the sole purpose of enforcement and collection of debts. They enforce County Court Judgements.

Sheriffs: These are employed by the High Sheriff. They are known as 'Sheriff Officers' and enforce and collect all judgements from the High Court. As a rule these debts will be in excess of £5000.

Certificated Bailiff: These bailiffs deal with Local Authority taxes, Council Rent arrears, Magistrate Court fines etc.
